In recent years, India has become one of Dellner’s most important global locations. Dellner India is both a development and production location for train couplers and gangways as well as a sales branch for an important market.
The importance of India for Dellner is also made clear from the figures: more than 170 dedicated employees work for Dellner India across two different locations. While the Indian service centre for couplers and gangways is located in Noida (New Delhi), Chennai boasts a world-leading test bench for gangways.
Dellner India expanded rapidly after its establishment in 2009. Couplers were initially manufactured by Dellner India, having had IRIS certification since 2011. Two years later, Dellner India delivered its first self-produced gangway. This was followed in 2014 by the opening of the service centre in Noida and the move to the current facility in Chennai the following year.
During this time, India also became increasingly important as a development location for Dellner, which led to the establishment of the Dellner India Engineering Team in 2016.
Fully automated test stand for gangways
The workshop in Chennai is home to the world’s most modern fully automatic test stand for gangways. It works with hydraulic cylinders that can simulate all degrees of freedom at both ends of the car.
On this test bench, we can test all types of gangways and get very accurate results. In addition, simultaneous movement of hydraulic cylinders and floor plate load tests can be performed.
Dellner India has a solar plant with 432 solar panels and a capacity of 120 kWh. It can supply up to 90 kWh into our grid depending on weather conditions and our energy consumption, and currently supports about half of our energy needs.
Dellner India is certified to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and has IRIS certification to ISO/TS 22163:2017.
